What Program Do You Use?
I use GoldWave. It's very simple to use and they offer a free trial run.
The Help Corner:
I am NO expert on how to get ringtones onto your cell phone but I have my tried and true way and since I've been asked so many times I thought I'd insert it here and save myself from copying and pasting over and over and over (and over~).
Step #1: Ask yourself, can your cell phone recieve texts? Can it play mp3's? If you don't know if it can or can't play mp3's a good indicator is if the original songs on your cell are monotone or not. If they are monotone, it's likely your cell isn't compatable with mp3 files and thus won't play these ringtones. If your cell can send and recieve texts and play mp3's move on to step #2~
Step #2: Now you'll need to find out your cell phone's e-mail address. On T-Mobile for example, it's your full number (with the 1 and area code) so 1-234-567-8910 without the dashes, @tmomail.net. So all in all it'd look like 12345678910 @tmomail.net. The easiest way of finding out your cell's e-mail address (the @blahblah part) is sending a text to your e-mail address and simply looking at the what's listed under the senders name. Once you've got that you can move on to step #3!
Step #3: Go to your e-mail account. Click 'compose a letter' or whatever it is you click to send an e-mail to someone. Click 'Attach a file' or whatever it is you click to attach a file. Attach desired song to e-mail. Go back to message. Don't write anything in the message, I've done that before and it never sends right so just don't do it. Insert your cell's e-mail address in specified fields and away you go~!
Helpful tips for afterwards: If you're in an area with bad service when you send your mp3, it's likely it won't come through, just f.y.i. in case you start freaking out about it not working. If you're in an area with good service and it still doesn't work, I'd suggest trying again. If it still doesn't work... well, I don't know what to tell you =( When/if you recieve it nicely, you'll probably have to save the song to your phone. At least that's how it is on my cell, I go to 'save media file' so that when I want to put it as a ringtone it'll be there.
A note from
ladygaia87:If your cell phone has a 'recording' option then you can play these REALLY GODDAMN LOUD on your computer in a quiet room with the recording option turned on, and you can then set it as your ringtone.
More side notes:
If you have Bluetooth and use it, you probably know you can get your mp3's onto your cell that way, but I'll mention if for those few who have it but haven't used it yet because they never saw a need. Don't ask me how it works. I have NO idea.
Having a USB port on your cell is also another way to transfer files and such. I don't know if there's software required for this though.
Also, I hear Mobile17 is a great (free) service to use to send your ringtones. Text messaging and internet access is required on your cell though. No spam!
If you've tried all of these and it still doesn't work, there's not much more I can say that will help, but feel free to ask anyway. Let's be confused together, yeah?
Friending
There have been a fair amount of people friending me right after I post my ringtones and while I can't really stop anyone from doing so, I'd like to forewarn you that I won't be friending back if you don't, you know, talk to me. My journal is mostly open so you will get more spam than ringtones on your flist. My ringtones ARE posted to several (SEVERAL) different communities that you have probably come from and when I update them, they will be posted AGAIN to those communities
Now if you've come here and find we share lots of interests, please, don't hesitate to leave me a comment somewhere and chat me up because I really do love cool new friends. :D
